CAN SOMEONE HAVE A NORMAL BMI AND STILL BE OBESE??
Obesity with a normal BMI ( Anthropometric-only obesity,) is increasingly recognized as a predictor for subtle risks associated with conditions like DM, major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), and mortality.
This type of obesity can be assessed through two main measurements:
- **Waist Circumference (WC):**
- Men: A waist circumference equal to or greater than 102 cm (40 inches).
- Women: A waist circumference equal to or greater than 88 cm (35 inches).
- **Waist-to-Hip Ratio (WHR):**
- Men: 0.90 and above.
- Women: 0.85 and above.
This presents a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to leverage HEALTH NUMERACY in order to potentially SAVE LIVES.
